PhD Thesis:

„Paleogene deep-water facies of the Upper Gosau Subgroup of Gams bei Hieflau (Styria, Austria)” - in progress.

Goals of my project are a better understanding and detailed data on turbidite architecture, facies, stratigraphy and the depositional history of the Upper Cretaceous to Paleogene Gosau Group of Gams (Northern Calcareous Alps).
Another point of interest is the influence of tectonics and eustasy on the composition of deep-water slope basin sediments.
Field work concentrates on Paleogene sections from the K/Pg boundary up to Lower Eocene.
Main lab methods include nannofossil evaluation for biostratigraphy and sediment petrography (thin sections, heavy minerals) for correlation and provenance analysis.
Futhermore I propose and compare a model for the confined Gams clastic slope deep-water depositional system in a tectonically active margin setting.
