PhD Thesis:

Markus thesis project is part of the University - OMV cooperation project "Regional Tectonics, Sedimentation and Chronology of the Molasse Basin in Eastern Austria" (OMV Molasse Project)" (FA536022).
He is working on Lower Miocene (Ottnangian-Karapatian) sedimentation and palaeogeography of the Northern Alpine Foreland Basin in eastern Lower Austria.
Methods applied include facies analysis, OMV well data correlation, geochemistry, chemostratigraphy and biostratigraphy. A distinct carbonate-minimum-interval was recognized and related to the sea-level lowstand during the late Ottnangian, and the establishment of the Rzehakia Lake System.
