Project Title:
Upscaling Reservoir Properties of the Hauptdolomit Fm: Permeability
Project Description:
The project Upscaling Reservoir Properties of the Hauptdolomit Fm addresses a comprehensive analysis of the properties of fractured and faulted reservoir dolostone rocks, which are considered as potential geothermal reservoirs in the Vienna Basin subsurface. The main objective of this study is to determine the permeability of fractured and faulted dolostone at scales ranging from cm-sized rock samples to up to tens of meters long well intervals to bridge scales between plug-derived permeability and well tests.
Reservoir parameters of the Hauptdolomit Fm. are assessed with standard lab porosity/permeability methods using rock and core samples (covering centimeter scales), permeability measurements from injection tests in small-scale drillings (covering up to one meter), open-hole leak-off tests in blast holes in quarries (covering up to ten meters) and a cored test well (covering 50 meters) to obtain data relevant for reservoir modelling.
